Gawaine Dart

1929-2014

Gawaine Dart was a prolific potter & painter & he was the instructor of both ceramics and watercolor for almost 30 years (1957 thru 1985) ... at Henry Ford college in Dearborn Michigan

He was chairman of the art department 1960-1973; 1982-1985 he was a board member for the Michigan Potters Association for decades & at various times was also President ; Treasurer & Secretary he was a founding member of the Michigan Craftsmen Council 1959 until the time this retrospective was written (87) he had been heavily involved with Pewabic Pottery ...Executive Board & Treasurer ; Education Committee Chairman.

He had important 1 man show at Habatat Gallery & Hanamura Gallery, he also had 2 man shows with his wife Jane; selected group shows ; Public Commissions & many awards...including but not exclusive to : the Adler - Schnee purchase Award , Michigan Artist Craftman Show Detroit Institute of Arts for permanent collection of the Childrens Museum of Detroit (1967)
