Gerhard Schliepstein

Gerhard Schliepstein was born on October 21, 1886 in Brunswick, Germany.

Schliepstein was one of the most esteemed German sculptors of the first half the 20th century. He created among other things building facades, figures and busts. From1926 to 1945 he shared a studio with Fritz Bernuth.  He worked exclusively for Rosenthal Porcelain Company from 1925 to 1937. His best known works are "Prince" and "Princess" and the "Stone Ram Clock.” 

His unique stylization is very recognizable.  Besides porcelain a few works of his we cast in bronze.  He also designed some pieces of furniture, one of his cabinets is in the Wolfsonian Museum.

Schliepstein died in 1963
