Jean Reschofsky (1905-1998)

Jean Reschofsky studied architecture at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts de Paris and was awarded his graduate degress in architecture and sculpture at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. In parrallel, he was a pupil of Léon Bakst (see mention f it on website: http://www.leon-bakst.com/php/peintures.php ) Reschofsky's opus was important and varied as a painter, illustrator, sculptor and engraver.

As a prolific illustrator, he collaborated with the Lettres Françaises, as well as many other magazines such as L'Illustration/France Illustration and daily newspapers such as France-Soir. Publishing houses commissioned his illustrations for deluxe illustrated editions of well-known contemporary authors such as Georges Siménon and Claude Roy as well as more than 150 titles of children's books, from classics such as Jules Vernes, Alexandre Dumas among others, to contemporary adventure novels - even illustrations for scholatic manuals.
