Jean Robert Pinet

Jean Robert Pinet was born in Sète on the 4th of March 1910.
Pinet studied at l’école des Beaux-Arts de Montpillier.


In 1930 he moved to Paris and settled in the Quartier Latin. In Paris he was a student of Lucien Simon at l’école Nationale Supérieure des Beax-Arts.


Pinet painted portraits. still lifes, and genre scenes. He was very active in sports, and he won a national championship in rowing in 1930.


In 1936 he won the Grand Prix de Rome, he studied in Rome until 1939.


After the war he returned to Sète, and then continued to work in Paris. He executed several murals, including a large work for he Hotel de Ville de Poissy. He also created a mural for the college of Creil.


Pinet died on November 13th, 1947

Pinet's atelier was sold at auction in Paris in 2006.
