Julien Pavil

Julien Pavil was born in Paris, he was the son of the painter Elie Anatole Pavil.


Pavil was an illustrator, a draftsman humorist and a poster artist. He illustrated several books between 1929 and 1945. He worked for many illustrated newspapers: "the Baionnette", "Cinémonde", "Fantasio", "Rustle", "Paris Midday", "Paris Evening.”


Pavil exhibited at the Nationale des Beaux Arts in 1939; in1941 he became a refugee in Lyon. After that he exhibited at Chez Roger in Marseille.


Pavil worked in oil and watercolor; his subjects were scenes of French life in the 1920s and 1930s, including scenes of nightclubs, circus, dancers and singers.


Pavil was the secretary of the free commune of Montmartre.  The dates of his birth and death are not known.
