Born in Milan in 1853, Leonardo Bazzaro trained with Gaetano Fasanotti and studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. 

Giuseppe Bertini was one of his teachers.  He painted mostly landscapes, the rural life as well as portraits and harbor scenes.

From 1897 to 1932, Bazzaro exhibited regularly at the Biennale in Venice. 

His works can be found in the collections of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome, the Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea di Torino and the Museo Internazionale d'Arte Moderna Cà Pesaro in Venice. 

Bazzaro died in 1937.
