Muriel
Wilson
Born 1892
Muriel Wilson was born in Chicago on July 21, 1892. She studied art
at the Crystal Palace and the Central School of Arts and Crafts.
Wilson was known as a watercolorist, painter and print maker. She exhibited
at the Paris Salons as well as the Royal Institute of painters in watercolor
and the Royal Society of British Artists. She lived in London.
Wilson’s paintings of the 1930s exhibited the strong influence
of the Parisian moderns. The stylization of André Lhote, which
was pervasive among young artists in Paris between the wars, is visible
in Wilson’s paintings. Her large bold canvases express the confidence
of this accomplished artist.
