Servando del Pilar
20th Century
Born in the Castile region of Spain.
Del Pilar exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon
d’Automne beginning in 1923. He showed his work in a group exhibition
of the artists of the province of Las Palmas at the Museum of Modern
Art of Madrid in 1944.
His work employs a vibrant color palette in a distinctly Postimpressionist
style combined with Cubist elements. Some of his paintings are allegorical
in the Art Deco tradition. His treatment of the female nude seems his
most comfortable subject.
