Carles Madirolas

1934-2007

Madirolas was born in Barcelona, He was a painter, printmaker, ceramist, and created works in enamel and stained glass windows.
He was a versatile artist who cultivated the mural painting and easel (egg tempera and oil), enamel on metal, ceramics, intaglio and lithography.

In 2002 The Diocesan Museum of Barcelona hosted an anthological exhibition Charles Madirolas, the sense of
trinity and unity, it was curated by art critic Josep Maria
Cadena. The exhibition includes one hundred oil paintings, watercolors, prints and
drawings.

The exhibition is a journey through all facets of
the work of Charles Madirolas such as a draftsman, painter, engraver and
enamelist.

Madirolas was professor of ancient and modern art at
the School of Fine Arts.

In 1952 he was awarded the prize National painting, sculpture, engraving and music for his work
"Lovers."

His work reflects his admiration for the old masters of Italian Renaissance influence is evident in the auroras, in the delicate female figures in her angelic beauty and stereotyped concept: ethereal, spiritual, stylish and elegant.

In 1951 he was awarded the National Prize.
