Van Hood Ferguson

1903-1988

Born in Florida in 1903, Van Hood Ferguson received his B.S. degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also studied at the Jacksonville Florida Academy and the Art Student League in New York City.

Ferguson worked as a WPA artist during the depression. In 1937, he was awarded a prize at the Rockefeller Center Show and won additional awards in Florida in 1937 and in 1940.

Van Hood Ferguson had solo shows in Ocala, FL in 1940 and in Tallahassee, FL in 1941. He also showed at the American-British Art Center in 1943 and again in 1945.
